Part One – Simple Steps to Develop Your Facebook Strategy

Do you know that your customers are on Facebook but you just don’t know how to reach them? Do you understand that you need to be communicating with your Facebook followers but just don’t know where to start? Perhaps you’ve dipped your toe in the water but didn’t get the response that you wanted?

Excitingly in the last year, Facebook has expanded the capabilities of its advertising for business, but what does it mean for you? There are now a multitude of options that enable accurate targeting of audiences no matter who your business wants to reach. But with these increased options comes a need for increased knowledge about how to leverage them.

The first three things you need to think about are:

  1. Know what your goals are: When planning your Facebook advertising it is important to know what your business’ goals are. Do you want to grow a Facebook community around your page, or improve your customer service reputation? Do you need to drive visits to your website? Are you looking for an audience to watch your videos or attendance at an event?
  2. Use this information to make a plan: Do you have a budget? What are your competitors doing and which elements are successful for them? Who are the influential social media users for your target audience? How frequently will you post? What content will be of interest to your audience? What topics can you feature regularly?
  3. Make sure your plan always has a fresh look. Your campaigns will benefit from your having knowledge of aspects such as split testing, understanding Facebook ad objectives & understanding your target audience. We will discuss more over the coming weeks on how and what to do but for now. Know your goals and understand what you need to do to make a plan.

TIP: When planning ensure that you can deliver. Telling your customers you will post every day only to have this fall by the wayside after 2 weeks is unprofessional. Make it achievable and if you need more than you can achieve yourself enlist some help.

Good luck with your planning, we’ll be looking at other elements of Facebook advertising in the next few weeks. Please let me know below if you have found this helpful; or what other topics you’d like to know more about.
